**MUMBAI, INDIA** – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Devajit Saikia as its new Secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as its new Treasurer, the board announced Sunday. Both appointments were unopposed.

Saikia, from Assam, succeeds Jay Shah, who recently became the Chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Bhatia, a cricket administrator from Chhattisgarh, replaces Ashish Shelar, who has taken a position in the Maharashtra state government.

The appointments were confirmed by electoral officer A.K. Joti following a Special General Meeting (SGM). Saikia expressed his gratitude to the BCCI and pledged to continue the work started by his predecessor. Shah, who attended the SGM as a special invitee, received accolades for his contributions to both the BCCI and the ICC.

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla stated that the SGM’s sole purpose was the election of the Secretary and Treasurer, with no other matters discussed.
