The ethnic violence that erupted in May 2023 has resulted in over 250 deaths and thousands of FIRs related to serious crimes, including rape, murder, and arson.

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla recently urged state police to utilize legal options, such as the National Security Act, to address the ongoing unrest. The situation remains a significant concern, despite the Army Chief’s report of progress.
