**Hyderabad, January 13, 2025** – The National BC Welfare Association has demanded the immediate implementation of the Kamareddy BC Declaration, a key election promise made by the Congress government in Karnataka’s December 2023 Assembly elections. The declaration includes a pledge to increase BC reservations in local bodies to 42% from the current 23% within six months of assuming power.
Association president R. Krishnaiah, speaking at a meeting on Sunday, criticized the government’s delay in fulfilling the promise, alleging it exposes a lack of commitment to BC development. He warned of protests, including a potential fast-unto-death, if the government continues to disregard their demands. Several senior leaders of the Youth Association were present at the meeting in support of the call for action.
