**Melbourne, Australia –** India’s top men’s singles player, Sumit Nagal, saw his Australian Open campaign come to an abrupt end on Sunday. Nagal, ranked 91st in the world, suffered a straight-set defeat to Czech Republic’s Tomas Machac (world No. 25) with a score of 3-6, 1-6, 5-7.

Despite a strong start, Nagal’s game unravelled due to a series of unforced errors and double faults. While he mounted a spirited comeback in the third set, taking a 5-3 lead, Machac ultimately proved too consistent, capitalizing on Nagal’s mistakes to secure the victory.
