Sun Jan 12 21:18:05 UTC 2025: ## BCCI Appoints Devjit Saikia as Secretary, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as Treasurer

**Mumbai, India –** The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Devjit Saikia as its new secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as treasurer. Both were elected unopposed during a special general meeting (SGM) on Sunday. Their nominations were the only ones received.

Saikia, who has been serving as interim secretary since December following Jay Shah’s appointment as ICC chairman, represents the Assam Cricket Association. His appointment follows speculation that Rohan Jaitley would take the position. Bhatia, representing the Chhattisgarh Cricket Association, replaces Ashish Shelar, who is now a member of the Maharashtra state government and thus ineligible for the BCCI post due to conflict of interest rules.

The election of the two officials was confirmed by election officer AK Joti, who stated that no voting was necessary due to the unopposed nominations. The SGM also included a tribute to Jay Shah for his service to the BCCI. BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla confirmed that the SGM’s sole agenda was the election of the secretary and treasurer, also updating that venues for the Women’s Premier League have been finalized, and the selectors’ meeting to discuss the Champions Trophy team is scheduled for January 18-19.

**Bumrah’s Champions Trophy Participation Uncertain**
