**Mumbai, India:** The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday elected Devjit Saikia as its new secretary and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as its new treasurer. Both were elected unopposed during a Special General Meeting (SGM). Saikia replaces Jay Shah, who became the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman on December 1st, while Bhatia fills the vacancy left by Ashish Shelar, who recently took on a cabinet position in the Maharashtra government.

Saikia, who served as interim secretary following Shah’s appointment to the ICC, was the sole candidate for the secretary’s post. Similarly, Bhatia was the only nominee for the treasurer’s position. The BCCI constitution mandates filling vacant positions within 45 days, and Sunday marked the 43rd day since the vacancies arose. The election officer, A.K. Joti, announced the unopposed election, stating that no voting was necessary.

The SGM also celebrated Jay Shah’s recent achievements and welcomed him. The BCCI had honored Shah on Saturday.
