**Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh –** A partial building collapse at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh has left at least a dozen workers trapped under the rubble. The incident occurred Friday during the construction of a two-story building as part of a station beautification project. Approximately 35 workers were on site when the under-construction roof shuttering gave way.

Rescue efforts, involving railway, police, and administrative officials, are underway. Twenty-three workers have been rescued so far, according to officials. District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla stated that the priority is rescuing the remaining trapped workers, utilizing all available resources.

The Uttar Pradesh state government has announced compensation for the injured workers: ₹50,000 for those seriously injured and ₹5,000 for those with minor injuries. The Northeastern Railway has reported that relief and rescue operations are ongoing, with the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) deployed from Lucknow to assist. The exact number of those still trapped remains unclear.
