**New Delhi:** In a bid to curb cheating and mismanagement, the Indian government is considering adopting the stringent security protocols of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams for all higher education entrance tests. This move follows controversies surrounding last year’s NEET-UG exam.
Sources within the Union education ministry revealed that the plan involves leveraging the state and district administrations in the exam process, mirroring the UPSC model where district collectors and superintendents of police play crucial roles in securing exam centers. The National Testing Agency (NTA), currently responsible for conducting these exams, would implement this enhanced security.
The proposed change would affect major entrance exams including CUET-UG, CUET-PG, JEE-Mains, and NEET-UG. The decision follows a recommendation from a committee chaired by former ISRO Chairman Dr. K Radhakrishnan, formed in response to the NEET-UG irregularities. The ministry aims to create a more secure and “error-free” system, as recently announced by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The increased involvement of state administrations is expected to bolster the integrity of the exam process.
