**Imphal, Manipur – January 12, 2025** – A mob in Manipur’s Kamjong district attacked and destroyed a temporary Assam Rifles camp on Saturday, following a dispute over alleged harassment and restrictions on timber transportation. The incident, which involved members of the Naga community from Kasom Khullen block, escalated after Assam Rifles soldiers reportedly blocked the transport of timber destined for housing construction.
Authorities reported that Assam Rifles personnel responded by firing warning shots and deploying tear gas to disperse the crowd. Despite the use of force, the mob proceeded to demolish the camp, demanding the removal of the paramilitary force from the area. No injuries were reported.
