**JAMSHEDPUR, INDIA (January 12, 2025)** – A four-member team from the Jharkhand State Minority Commission (JSMC) will investigate the alleged mob lynching of Sheikh Tazuddin in Seraikela-Kharswan district. Tazuddin died on December 15th after being severely beaten by unidentified individuals in Adityapur on December 8th.
The investigation was launched following a request from the All India Minority Welfare Front for a judicial inquiry. The JSMC team, headed by chairman Hedayatullah Khan, will begin its investigation on Monday, January 13th, meeting with Tazuddin’s family and local officials. The commission has reportedly yet to receive an action taken report from the district’s superintendent of police, despite requesting it on December 26th.
While four suspects have surrendered, the police investigation is still ongoing, according to Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat. The JSMC’s inquiry aims to shed light on the circumstances surrounding Tazuddin’s death and ensure accountability.
