**Bengaluru, January 11, 2025** – The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website experienced a significant outage today, marking the second such incident within a month. According to Downdetector, a website monitoring service, a surge in user reports indicated widespread problems, with 36% related to the app, 30% to the website itself, and 35% specifically to the ticketing system.
Numerous users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration, sharing screenshots of error messages indicating a one-hour service interruption for bookings and cancellations. Many users reported being unable to log in, adding to the disruption. The outage particularly affected users attempting to access the peak Tatkal booking window, which closed during the downtime.
This follows a similar outage a few weeks ago attributed to scheduled maintenance, which also prevented access to e-ticketing and Tatkal services during a busy holiday period. The cause of today’s outage remains unconfirmed. IRCTC has yet to release an official statement addressing the issue.
