Sun Jan 12 08:50:32 UTC 2025: ## “Game Changer” Box Office Bombs: Shankar’s Big-Budget Film Plummets After Strong Debut
**Hyderabad, India –** Ram Charan and Kiara Advani’s highly anticipated political action film, “Game Changer,” directed by S. Shankar, has experienced a significant box office downturn after a strong opening day. While initial reports claimed a massive worldwide Day 1 gross of Rs 186 crore, subsequent figures reveal a steeper than expected decline.
The film, released on January 10th, raked in Rs 51 crore on its opening day across all languages. However, Saturday saw a dramatic 57.84% drop, bringing in only Rs 21.5 crore. This resulted in a total India gross collection of Rs 72.5 crore, significantly lower than initial projections. The Telugu version performed the best, earning Rs 53.95 crore, followed by the Hindi version with Rs 14.5 crore. Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions contributed minimally.
The film’s underperformance is also reflected in occupancy rates. While Mahbubnagar (Telangana) showed the highest occupancy (54.25%) for the Telugu version, and Jaipur led for the Hindi version (54.50%), major metropolitan areas like Mumbai and Delhi NCR showed significantly lower numbers.
The film’s producers have faced accusations of inflating the opening day box office numbers, raising concerns about transparency. “Game Changer,” touted as one of South Cinema’s biggest releases following “Pushpa 2,” features a star-studded cast including Nassar, SJ Suriyah, Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, and Murali Sharma. Despite the initial hype, the film’s disappointing box office performance raises questions about its long-term prospects.
