Sat Jan 11 06:32:55 UTC 2025: ## Bala’s ‘Vanangaan’ Opens to Positive Reviews and Box Office Buzz

**Chennai, January 10, 2024** – Acclaimed Tamil director Bala’s highly anticipated film, *Vanangaan*, starring Arun Vijay and Roshini Prakash, hit theaters today, Pongal day, generating significant buzz. The film, six years in the making since Bala’s last theatrical release, *Naachiyaar* (2018), marks a significant comeback for the director known for his distinctive storytelling.

*Vanangaan*, produced by Suresh Kamaatchi, features a star-studded cast including M.S. Bhaskar, Mithun, Radha Ravi, and others, with music by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Initially slated to star Surya, the project saw Arun Vijay step in after Surya’s departure.

Early reviews have been largely positive, praising Arun Vijay’s performance and the film’s intense subject matter, which reportedly tackles crimes against women and their consequences. Critics have noted the strong performances from Roshini Prakash and Ridha, as well as Mysskin’s impactful role. While some reviews mention a slow second half and a predictable plot, many highlight the impactful first half and the film’s strong emotional core. The background score by G.V. Prakash Kumar has also received considerable praise.

The film’s release, however, wasn’t without its initial hurdles. Reports surfaced of cancelled morning shows in some locations due to KDM (Key Delivery Message) issues. These issues appear to have been resolved, and the film is now screening across Tamil Nadu. Director Karthik Subbaraj has already extended his best wishes for the film’s success. The positive initial response and high audience anticipation suggest *Vanangaan* is poised to become a Pongal box office contender.
