Sat Jan 11 07:49:12 UTC 2025: ## India Wins First ODI Against Ireland, Mandhana Achieves Milestone

**DUBLIN, IRELAND** – The Indian women’s cricket team secured a convincing six-wicket victory over Ireland in the first One Day International (ODI) of their three-match series. The win gives India a 1-0 lead in the series.

Leading the charge for India were opener Pritika Rawal (89 runs), Tejal Hasabnis (53* runs), and captain Smriti Mandhana (41 runs). Rawal’s powerful innings and Hasabnis’s unbeaten knock guided India to victory. Mandhana’s quickfire 41 runs off just 29 balls, studded with six fours and a six, proved crucial in the chase.

However, Mandhana’s contribution extended beyond her impressive batting performance. Her 41 runs marked the achievement of 4,000 ODI runs for her career, making her the fastest Indian woman cricketer to reach this milestone. She accomplished this feat in just her 95th innings, surpassing the previous record held by Mithali Raj (112 innings). Only Virat Kohli, among male cricketers, reached 4,000 ODI runs faster than Mandhana.

Mandhana and Rawal provided a strong opening partnership, scoring 70 runs for the first wicket in 9.6 overs before Mandhana was dismissed. Despite her relatively brief stay at the crease, Mandhana’s rapid innings and record-breaking achievement were pivotal to India’s victory. The Indian team successfully chased down a target of 239 runs.
