**IRINJALAKUDA, Kerala – January 11, 2025** – Veteran playback singer P Jayachandran, widely known as “Bhava Gayakan” for his emotive singing style, was cremated Saturday afternoon. Thousands paid their respects to the singer, who passed away Thursday evening at a private medical college.
Jayachandran’s body lay in state at the National Higher Secondary School in Irinjalakuda before being moved to his ancestral home in Paliam, Chendamangalam, for a final viewing. The cremation took place at the Paliam crematorium after midday.
Several dignitaries attended the funeral, including Ministers MB Rajesh and R Bindu, and Opposition Leader VD Satheesan.
Jayachandran, who leaves behind a legacy of over 16,000 songs in various languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi, received numerous accolades throughout his career, including several best playback singer awards. His contributions to Indian music have been widely lauded.
