VIJAYAWADA – Andhra Pradesh’s Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister, Ponguru Narayana, inaugurated a three-day property show in Vijayawada on Friday, promising a revival of the state’s struggling real estate sector. The show, organized by CREDAI, brought together builders, developers, and potential buyers ahead of the Sankranti festival.

Minister Narayana highlighted the negative impact of the previous government’s three-capitals policy on the construction sector, affecting thousands of families. He announced several government initiatives to revitalize the industry, including streamlining building approvals, reducing mandatory road widths for layouts from 12 to 9 meters, and allowing cellar construction in larger buildings. Permits for buildings up to 15 meters high will now be issued by licensed surveyors, reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

A new single-window system will expedite permissions from various departments, further easing the process for developers. The Minister also emphasized the government’s commitment to developing Amaravati and Vijayawada as growth engines for the state, citing Rs 4 lakh crore in signed investment MoUs.

Minister Narayana called on organizations like CREDAI and NAREDCO to collaborate on government housing projects, promising incentives for participation. He stressed the importance of creating sustainable and well-planned towns. The event was attended by several other dignitaries, including Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath.
