**Dewas, Madhya Pradesh:** A married man has been arrested in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, after the decomposed body of a woman was discovered in a refrigerator he had rented. Police believe Sanjay Patidar, a resident of Ujjain, murdered Pinky Prajapati, his live-in partner of five years, in June 2023. The body, discovered Friday, was found tied up and wearing jewelry.
According to Dewas Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlot, Prajapati, in her 30s, was allegedly killed after pressuring Patidar to marry her. Patidar allegedly used the help of a friend to commit the crime. The body remained undiscovered for approximately eight months in a rented house Patidar had partially vacated. The discovery was made after a foul smell emanating from the property prompted neighbors to alert the landlord, who subsequently contacted the police. The refrigerator’s power had been disconnected, contributing to the smell.
The incident bears a chilling resemblance to the Shraddha Walkar murder case in Delhi, where the accused also allegedly used a refrigerator to dispose of the victim’s remains. Patidar’s case has been registered, and investigations are underway. The police are investigating the involvement of Patidar’s friend.
