VISAKHAPATNAM, January 11, 2025 – A Jana Sena Party (JSP) corporator, P.L.V.N. Murthy, has accused the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) of irregularities in the operation and maintenance of battery-operated vehicles on Kailasagiri Hill. In a representation submitted to the VMRDA Commissioner on Saturday, Mr. Murthy alleged that a private individual, with the alleged assistance of VMRDA officials and political representatives, is operating the vehicles without a proper tender process.
Mr. Murthy claims the private operator pays only ₹10,000 per month to the VMRDA, while the actual revenue generated remains undisclosed. He further alleges that private shops have been set up on the hill, again with the alleged help of officials and political figures, impacting VMRDA revenue. The corporator is demanding a thorough investigation into these allegations.
