**ERODE, January 11, 2025** – The distribution of Pongal gift hampers in the Erode (East) Assembly constituency, Tamil Nadu, commenced on Saturday. The distribution, initially delayed due to the Model Code of Conduct in effect ahead of the February 5th election, began after receiving permission from the Election Commission.
The state government’s Pongal gift scheme includes one kilogram of raw rice, one kilogram of sugar, and a whole sugarcane per ration card. While distribution began across the Erode district on January 9th, the Erode (East) constituency was excluded until permission was granted. Officials assure that all cardholders in the constituency will receive their hampers within the next three days.
