**MOSCOW** – Acclaimed Russian actress Evgenia Dobrovolskaya, a People’s Artist of Russia, has passed away at the age of 60, the Moscow Art Theatre (MKhAT) announced on its official Telegram channel. Dobrovolskaya, a beloved figure in Russian theatre and cinema, had been battling a serious illness for the past year.

The MKhAT described her as a leading actress who dedicated 33 years to the theatre, performing dozens of leading roles. The theatre noted her unwavering spirit and fight against her illness, but ultimately, her physical strength gave out.

Dobrovolskaya, born December 26, 1964, graduated from GITIS (Russian State Institute of Theatre Arts) in 1987 and joined the Moscow Art Theatre. Her career also included work with Oleg Tabakov’s studio theatre and Sovremennik-2. She was a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Golden Ram, Nika, and Golden Eagle film awards, as well as accolades from international film festivals in Koszalin (Poland) and Geneva.

The MKhAT has not yet released details regarding funeral arrangements.
