Rajkot, India – India secured a convincing victory over Ireland in the first One Day International (ODI) match of their ongoing series. While Ireland, led by Captain Gaby Lewis, managed a respectable 238 runs, India’s chase was highlighted by the exceptional debut performance of Pradhiga Raval.

Despite early setbacks with the dismissals of captain Smriti Mandhana (41), Harleen Deol (20), and Jemimah Rodrigues (9), Raval anchored the innings. She formed a crucial partnership with T. Hayabini and powered India to victory with a stunning 89 runs. Her innings helped India reach the target despite some early wicket losses, securing a comfortable win.

A 2000-born, Raval started playing cricket at the age of 4 and has been honing her skills at the Gymkhana Cricket Academy since the age of 10. Her father is a BCCI-certified Level 2 umpire, adding to her cricketing family background. Remarkably, Raval also excelled in basketball, winning a gold medal at a Delhi school-level tournament in 2019. Despite her success in basketball, she prioritized cricket. Academically accomplished, she secured 92.5% in her 12th-grade examinations. Prior to her national call up, she captained the Delhi team in the Women’s Under-23 One Day Trophy in 2023-24 and currently plays for the Railways team. Raval also marks India’s 150th ODI women’s cricketer.
