**Kolkata, January 10, 2025** – A joint operation by Kolkata and Bihar police forces has led to the discovery of two illegal firearms manufacturing units in Madubani district, Bihar. Four individuals were arrested and a significant amount of weaponry and manufacturing equipment seized.
The raids, conducted Thursday night, initially targeted a shop in Khutauna Bazaar disguised as an auto parts store. Three men – Istheyaque Alam (38), Iftekar Alam (35), and Rajkumar Chowdhury (30) – were apprehended. Police confiscated 24 pistol bodies and barrels, three pistol sliders, and various machinery including a lathe, milling, grinding, and welding machines, and two drilling machines.
Following questioning, a subsequent raid at the residence of Raju Sah (22) in Jhanjpatti village uncovered a second illegal arms factory. This site yielded 24 pistol butts, additional machinery, and a large quantity of raw materials.
All four suspects were arrested and charged under the Arms Act at Khutauna police station. The successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms manufacturing in the region.
