Fri Jan 10 13:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Blue Origin’s New Glenn Rocket Launch Delayed Until Sunday

**Cape Canaveral, FL** – Blue Origin’s highly anticipated inaugural launch of its New Glenn rocket has been postponed until Sunday, January 12th, due to unfavorable offshore weather conditions. The launch, originally scheduled for January 10th, will now take place within a three-hour window opening at 1 a.m. EST (0600 GMT) from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The 320-foot-tall New Glenn, a decade in development, will carry a test version of Blue Origin’s Blue Ring spacecraft platform as its payload. This mission, designated NG-1, will focus on testing the platform’s communication capabilities, in-space telemetry, and ground-based tracking systems. The first stage of the rocket, designed for reusability, will attempt a landing on Blue Origin’s recovery ship, “Jacklyn,” in the Atlantic Ocean.

While the launch marks a significant milestone for Blue Origin, company representatives acknowledge the inherent challenges of a debut flight and the possibility of further delays. Jarrett Jones, SVP for New Glenn, stated, “No matter what happens, we’ll learn, refine and apply that knowledge to our next launch.” Live coverage of the launch will be available via Blue Origin approximately one hour prior to liftoff, with Space.com potentially carrying the feed as well.
