**Rajkot, India:** India’s women’s cricket team defeated Ireland by six wickets in the first of a three-match ODI series in Rajkot. Ireland, winning the toss and electing to bat, posted a total of 238/7, with captain Gaby Lewis top-scoring on 92 runs.

India chased down the target in 34.2 overs, reaching 241 runs. Pratika Rawal scored her second ODI half-century, contributing 89 runs, while Tejal Hasabnis remained unbeaten on 53. Amy Maguire took 3 wickets for Ireland.

The Indian victory was further highlighted by Smriti Mandhana achieving a significant milestone. She became the fastest Indian woman to reach 4000 runs in Women’s ODIs, joining Mithali Raj as only the second Indian to achieve this feat. Mandhana reached the milestone with a single in the ninth over, finishing her innings with 41 runs. A crucial 116-run partnership between Hasabnis and Rawal for the fourth wicket sealed the win for India.

Lewis’s impressive 92 runs for Ireland was supported by Leah Paul’s 59. For India, Priya Mishra took two wickets, while Deepti Sharma, Titas Sadhu, and Sayali Sathare each claimed one.

The second ODI will be played on January 12th in Rajkot.
