**Madurai, January 9, 2025** – A school watchman in Madurai was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly attempting to sexually abuse three minor girls. Police say the man lured the children playing on the street under the pretense of offering prayers, leading them onto the school campus around 10 p.m. He then reportedly asked the girls to undress; while two complied, one girl refused and left, prompting the others to follow.
After one of the girls reported the incident to adults, local residents apprehended the watchman and beat him before police arrived. The All Women Police Station (Town) has registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The watchman is currently under arrest.
