**Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh:** A 25-year-old man, Sudheer Kumar, died by suicide in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, leaving behind a suicide note accusing his lover’s family of harassment. Kumar’s body was found hanging from a tree near his home this morning.
In the note, and in a Facebook post titled “Hamari Adhoori Kahani” (Our Incomplete Story), Kumar detailed a four-year relationship with Komal, culminating in a court marriage six months ago. He alleged that Komal’s family vehemently opposed the relationship and subjected him to constant harassment. He even claimed that Komal’s brother, his roommate Ayush, initially supported their relationship before his parents intervened.
Kumar wrote that despite Komal’s insistence on their marriage, their communication ceased after she informed her family. He further accused Komal, her mother, and her brother of urging him to end his life.
Kumar’s family corroborated his claims, stating that Komal’s parents repeatedly pressured him to divorce Komal, a request he refused unless Komal herself asked for it.
Police have recovered the suicide note and sent Kumar’s body for autopsy. A complaint has been filed, and an investigation into the allegations of harassment is underway, according to police officer Santosh Kumar.
