Thu Jan 09 15:42:11 UTC 2025: ## Cuddalore Teacher Detained Under Goondas Act for Child Sexual Abuse
**Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu – January 9, 2025** – A government school teacher in Cuddalore district has been detained under the Goondas Act following his arrest under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The teacher, identified as Malarselvan, was accused of sexually abusing a 17-year-old female student.
According to police investigations, Malarselvan threatened the victim with failing grades to coerce her into the abuse. The incident came to light in December 2024 following a complaint filed by the victim’s family. The Sethiyathoppu All Women Police arrested Malarselvan under the POCSO Act.
Following a recommendation from Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar, Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar ordered Malarselvan’s detention under the Goondas Act. The order was served while he was incarcerated in Cuddalore Central Prison. The Goondas Act allows for the preventive detention of individuals deemed a threat to public order.
