Wed Jan 08 18:16:21 UTC 2025: ## Government Reshuffles Top Finance Officials Ahead of Union Budget
**New Delhi, January 8, 2025** – In a significant administrative reshuffle just weeks before the Union Budget, the Indian government has appointed Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey as the new Revenue Secretary. This follows the recent transfer of Arunish Chawla, who had only recently assumed the Revenue Secretary post on December 26th, to the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).
Mr. Chawla’s appointment to DIPAM also includes the additional charge of Secretary in the Culture Ministry. Mr. Pandey, in turn, will relinquish his responsibilities at DIPAM and the Department of Public Enterprises, handing them over to Mr. Chawla. The changes, announced late Wednesday, were made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. The reshuffle comes as the government prepares for the upcoming Union Budget on February 1st. Mr. Chawla’s predecessor, Ajay Seth, had been holding the additional charge of Revenue Secretary since Sanjay Malhotra’s appointment as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India last month.
