**Jaipur, India** – Narayan Jagadeesan of Tamil Nadu produced a stunning display of power hitting in the Vijay Hazare Trophy pre-quarterfinal against Rajasthan on Thursday, smashing six consecutive boundaries in a single over. However, despite his 65 off 52 balls and a blistering start, Tamil Nadu fell short, losing by 19 runs.
Jagadeesan’s breathtaking over, against Rajasthan’s Aman Shekhawat, yielded 29 runs, including five wides. This explosive start propelled Tamil Nadu to 39 runs in the first two overs of their chase of 268. Vijay Shankar also contributed with a valuable 49.
While Jagadeesan’s fireworks lit up the early stages, Rajasthan’s bowlers fought back. Shekhawat ended with 3/60, while Aniket Choudhary (2/40) and Kukna Ajay Singh (2/59) also played crucial roles in restricting Tamil Nadu to 248 all out in 47.1 overs.
Earlier, Rajasthan, batting first, posted 267 in 47.3 overs thanks to a magnificent 111 from Abhijeet Tomar (his fourth List A century), supported by Mahipal Lomror’s 60 and Kartik Sharma’s 35. Tamil Nadu’s bowling was spearheaded by Varun Chakravarthy’s impressive 5/62, but it proved insufficient to defend the target. Sai Kishore (2/49) and Sandeep Warrier (2/38) also contributed to the bowling effort. Despite the thrilling start and Jagadeesan’s individual brilliance, Rajasthan emerged victorious in a closely fought contest.
