**Patna, January 8, 2025** – Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, hospitalized after a fast unto death, is in stable condition, doctors reported Tuesday night. Kishor, who was admitted to the ICU of a Patna hospital due to dehydration, is receiving intravenous fluids. Doctors at Jay Prabha Medanta Hospital indicated a possible transfer out of the ICU on Wednesday, but discharge remains unlikely. Party leaders urged Kishor to end his fast, emphasizing the importance of his health for the ongoing struggle.
Kishor’s protest was in support of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants demanding the cancellation of a December 13th exam, following allegations of a question paper leak. While the government ordered a retest for over 12,000 candidates, Kishor’s arrest and subsequent release on Monday preceded his hospitalization.
Party leader Pavan K Varma criticized the Chief Minister’s refusal to meet with a delegation of BPSC aspirants, calling it insensitive. Another party leader, YV Giri, highlighted the executive branch’s failure to address the concerns, suggesting the judiciary might offer a quicker resolution. Giri also criticized a Supreme Court rejection of a petition seeking exam cancellation, calling the petition’s filing by a law firm a mistake.
Meanwhile, the Patna district administration denied Kishor’s allegations of police pressure on doctors and the district transport authority is investigating Kishor’s vanity van for alleged Motor Vehicles Act violations.
