**New Delhi, January 8, 2025** – A motorcycle taxi driver in Delhi has been arrested for the murder of his wife, whose body was found hidden in a bed box at their home. Police say Dhanraj, an alcoholic, suspected his wife, Deepa Chauhan, of infidelity with a male co-worker. The argument over this friendship escalated on December 29th, resulting in Dhanraj strangling his wife.
Following the murder, Dhanraj attempted to conceal the body, taping Deepa’s mouth to slow decomposition and researching online methods to dismember it. He even sought help from friends to dispose of the body, but they refused.
Dhanraj obtained a new SIM card and fled to Amritsar before being apprehended on Sunday in Karnal while returning to Delhi. Police recovered Deepa’s decomposed body from their Janakpuri home last week. The investigation also revealed that Deepa was the primary breadwinner, working in a private company, while Dhanraj worked as a motorcycle taxi driver. Further, Dhanraj planned to murder Deepa’s friend, whom he believed to be involved in an affair with his wife, but was arrested before he could carry out that plan. The investigation is ongoing.
