Tue Jan 07 19:01:48 UTC 2025: ## Bihar Protest Leader’s Luxury Van Seizes Spotlight Amidst Hunger Strike

**Patna, Bihar** – Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party and currently staging a hunger strike in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, finds himself embroiled in controversy over the use of a lavish ₹2 crore vanity van during his protest. The van, which reportedly costs ₹25 lakh per day to rent, was seized by Bihar Police along with 15 other party vehicles.

Kishor’s protest centers around alleged irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exam. While he defends the van as a necessity for his fast, citing the need for basic amenities, the opulent vehicle – equipped with air conditioning, a kitchenette, a bathroom, and a walkie-talkie – has drawn sharp criticism. Social media users have questioned the appropriateness of such luxury during a protest for student rights, arguing it detracts from the cause’s seriousness.

Kishor, however, maintains that the focus should remain on the plight of BPSC aspirants. He has challenged critics to provide an alternative restroom facility and daily compensation equivalent to the van’s rental cost. Following his arrest for an illegal fast and subsequent release on bail, Kishor was hospitalized for dehydration. The incident highlights the stark contrast between Kishor’s protest and the opulent means employed, sparking a heated public debate.
