Tue Jan 07 16:34:07 UTC 2025: ## Madras High Court Judge Retires with Poignant Farewell Verdict

**Chennai, January 7, 2025** – Justice N. Seshasayee, a Madras High Court judge, concluded his two-decade career on Tuesday with a uniquely worded final judgment, likening his role to that of an umpire in a cricket match. In his dismissal of a writ petition filed by Cheran Enterprises Private Limited, Justice Seshasayee penned a reflective and metaphorical opinion.

He described the case as the “final match of the series” between the petitioner and respondents, ultimately declaring the petitioner’s loss. He subtly criticized the petitioner’s strategy, highlighting the importance of “fairness” and quoting Sanskrit verses from the Mahabharata emphasizing the link between justice and victory.

Justice Seshasayee, a native of Nagercoil, joined the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Service in 2004 and was elevated to the High Court in 2016. Before his judicial career, he served as a law clerk under former Supreme Court judge V.R. Krishna Iyer. In his final words, he thanked all involved in the judicial process and expressed gratitude for his time on the bench, poignantly quoting Shakespeare to mark his retirement.
