**LANSING, Mich. (WILX) —** Former Central Michigan University quarterback Thomas “Tommy” Lazzaro, 27, died in a hunting accident on Sunday, December 22nd, at Eglin Air Force Base in Walton County, Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed the incident, which the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating as a tragic accident. All parties involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with authorities.
Lazzaro, a four-year player for the Chippewas, achieved a career-high 153 passing yards against Michigan State in 2018. After his college career, he joined the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant.
A celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, December 28th, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
