Tue Jan 07 19:10:49 UTC 2025: ## DMK Protests Governor’s Actions, Demands His Resignation

**Chennai, January 8, 2025** – The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party staged protests across Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, condemning Governor R.N. Ravi for allegedly disrespecting the state’s anthem, the Tamil Thai Vazthu. Several high-ranking party officials, including MPs Kanimozhi and Dayanidhi Maran, participated in the demonstrations.

The protests followed accusations that Governor Ravi repeatedly showed disrespect towards the Tamil Thai Vazthu and the national anthem. Kanimozhi criticized the Governor for his perceived lack of understanding of Tamil Nadu’s traditions, highlighting the established practice of playing the state anthem before the national anthem. She accused the BJP government of deliberately appointing a Governor intent on insulting the Tamil language.

DMK organization secretary R.S. Bharathi went further, calling the Governor’s actions “criminal,” referencing an incident last year where Ravi reportedly walked out during the playing of the national anthem. He also claimed that the Governor was unable to accept Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s success.

MP Dayanidhi Maran emphasized the high industrial production capacity of Tamil Nadu, contrasting it with Maharashtra, and reiterated the people’s strong feelings about the Tamil Thai Vazthu, warning against any further disrespect.

The DMK’s demonstrations underscore growing tensions between the state government and the Governor, with the party demanding Ravi’s resignation for his alleged actions.
