**NEW DELHI, January 7, 2025** – Dense fog enveloped Delhi early Tuesday morning, causing significant disruptions to train services and impacting visibility. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported minimum visibility of just 150 meters in Palam between 5:00 am and 5:30 am, although this improved to 700 meters by 8:30 am. Safdarjung recorded a minimum visibility of 500 meters.
A total of 25 trains were delayed as a result of the poor visibility. Despite the fog, the minimum temperature in Delhi rose slightly to 10.5 degrees Celsius, 3.6 degrees above normal. Humidity levels reached 92% by 8:30 am.
The IMD forecasts very dense fog to continue throughout the day, with a maximum temperature expected around 19 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the city’s air quality remains in the “very poor” category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 303 recorded at 9:00 am. This follows the usual AQI scale where 301-400 is classified as “very poor”.
