Tue Jan 07 12:20:39 UTC 2025: ## Jan Suraaj Founder Prashant Kishor Hospitalized After Hunger Strike Arrest

**Patna, Bihar –** Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, arrested Monday for protesting at Gandhi Maidan, was hospitalized Tuesday due to dehydration and other medical complications. Kishor, who had been on a hunger strike since January 2nd in support of civil service aspirants, refused to sign his bail bond, resulting in his imprisonment.

After being forcibly removed from Gandhi Maidan at 4 am Monday, Kishor was initially examined at AIIMS Patna but later admitted to a private hospital in Patna after a doctor deemed hospitalization necessary. According to doctors, he is suffering from an infection, dehydration, weakness, and general discomfort and is currently in the ICU. Despite his hospitalization, Kishor stated his hunger strike would continue.

Kishor’s arrest stemmed from a violation of a Patna High Court order prohibiting protests at Gandhi Maidan. He had been protesting the December 2024 Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination. While granted bail on the condition he cease protests, he refused to accept the terms.
