Tue Jan 07 15:40:50 UTC 2025: ## Prashant Kishor Hospitalized After Six Days of Hunger Strike

**Patna, Bihar, January 7, 2025** – Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, has been hospitalized in Patna after his health deteriorated during a six-day hunger strike. Kishor, who has been consuming only water, was admitted to a private hospital and later transferred to Medanta Hospital due to severe abdominal pain. Doctors cited a critical condition resulting from the liquid-only diet, necessitating admission to the ICU.

Kishor began his hunger strike demanding the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC)’s 70th combined preliminary competitive examination held on December 13th. Allegations of question paper leaks surround the exam, fueling the protests Kishor is supporting. His wife, Jahnavi Das, a doctor, was summoned from Delhi to Patna. Reports indicate Kishor refused even oral medication during the strike.

Earlier on Monday, Kishor was arrested for his “illegal” hunger strike and briefly detained before being released on bail. He had rejected the bail conditions as “unfair”. Despite his hospitalization, Kishor stated before his transfer to Medanta Hospital that his hunger strike would continue.

Kishor’s protests began with a demonstration on December 30th, which resulted in police intervention. Following unsuccessful negotiations with the Chief Secretary, he launched his hunger strike on January 2nd. His demands include not only the cancellation of the December 13th exam but also a white paper on all question paper leaks in the last decade and a residential policy reserving two-thirds of government jobs for Bihar residents. The situation is being closely monitored.
