**Colombo, January 7, 2025** – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Sri Lanka later this year, the Indian High Commission in Colombo announced today. While the exact dates are yet to be finalized, High Commissioner Santosh Jha confirmed that both countries are working to determine a suitable time for the visit.
The invitation was extended by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake during his visit to New Delhi in mid-December. This was President Dissanayake’s first international trip after assuming office in September. The visit follows an earlier trip by Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar to Colombo. Prime Minister Modi previously visited Sri Lanka twice between 2015 and 2017. President Dissanayake is also scheduled to visit China, though no dates have been announced for that trip.
