Mon Jan 06 18:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Disgraced Movie Mogul’s Prison Consultant Hired by Man Accused of Killing UnitedHealthcare CEO

**NEW YORK, NY** – Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has hired Craig Rothfeld as his prison consultant, sources tell Page Six. Rothfeld, who served time for white-collar crimes, is best known for his work with disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein.

Mangione, currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, is awaiting trial and has pleaded not guilty. Rothfeld’s presence at Mangione’s hearing last week was noted by NBC News. His hiring highlights the consultant’s expertise in navigating the complexities of the prison system, a system Rothfeld himself described as a “Byzantine black hole.”

Rothfeld’s previous experience advising Weinstein, who faces a retrial on sex crime charges and has suffered significant health issues in prison, lends weight to Mangione’s choice. Weinstein’s legal team has repeatedly raised concerns about his medical care in custody, even filing a $5 million lawsuit against New York for alleged medical negligence. Weinstein’s spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, has stated that Weinstein, who suffers from leukemia among other ailments, has been denied adequate medical attention.

The coincidence of Mangione sharing a floor with Sean “Diddy” Combs, who awaits trial on various charges, adds another layer of high-profile notoriety to the Metropolitan Detention Center.
