**ERODE, January 7, 2025** – With the model code of conduct coming into effect for the Erode (East) Assembly by-election, election officials in Erode, Tamil Nadu, are swiftly removing all political paraphernalia from public view. The by-election, scheduled for February 5th, was necessitated by the death of Congress MLA E.V.K.S. Elangovan on December 14th, 2024.

On Tuesday, municipal workers covered names of political leaders at the Corporation office and sealed the offices of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Portraits of the Chief Minister and other leaders were removed from government offices within the constituency. Political party flags and posters were also taken down, and any remaining graffiti or advertisements are slated for removal.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set the following key dates: nomination filing (January 10-17), scrutiny (January 18), withdrawal of candidatures (January 20), polling (February 5), and vote counting (February 8). The entire election process is expected to conclude by February 10th.
