Tue Jan 07 14:50:58 UTC 2025: ## DMK Protests Governor Ravi’s Walkout from Tamil Nadu Assembly
**Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu – January 7, 2025** – DMK cadres staged a protest demonstration in Krishnagiri on Tuesday, condemning Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi’s walkout from the state assembly’s address. The Governor’s office attributed the walkout to the playing of the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, a Tamil patriotic song, before the Governor’s address, claiming it was an “insult to the national anthem.”
Protesters demanded Governor Ravi’s recall, accusing him of undermining state rights and federalism. The demonstration, intended to showcase party unity, was briefly disrupted by an altercation between former district secretary T. Senguttuvan and other party officials over microphone access. Senguttuvan and former MP and MLA Sugavanam subsequently left the protest. The DMK framed the incident as an attack on federalism and highlighted the perceived unitary tendencies of the Union government, viewing the Governor as its agent.
