**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, January 7, 2025** – The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) staged widespread protests across Tamil Nadu today, condemning Governor R.N. Ravi’s actions and accusing him of disrespecting the state assembly and its people. Protests took place in Dindigul, Ramanathapuram, Theni, Sivaganga, and Virudhunagar districts, with hundreds of DMK cadres participating.

In Dindigul, Mayor J. Ilamathi led a demonstration near the Collectorate, while former Minister V. Sathiamoorthy spearheaded the protests in Ramanathapuram. Similar protests were organized in other districts, all expressing outrage over the Governor’s actions, specifically citing his walkout from the state assembly as an insult to the Tamil Nadu legislature and its people.

Protesters criticized the Governor for allegedly undermining Tamil Nadu’s culture and traditions, specifically referencing the perceived disrespect shown to the state song, “Tamil Thai Vaazhthu.” The DMK also condemned the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly supporting the Governor, claiming a nexus between the three parties. Slogans were chanted against AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

The protests involved over 700 participants in Dindigul, over 500 in Ramanathapuram, and over 350 in Virudhunagar. The DMK asserted that the Governor’s actions are detrimental to the welfare of the Tamil Nadu people.
