**New Delhi, [Date of Publication]** – The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Delhi Assembly elections. Voting for all 70 seats will be held on February 5th, 2024, with the results declared on February 8th. The model code of conduct has come into effect immediately following the announcement.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the key dates: January 10th will see the release of the gazette notification, January 17th is the last date for nominations, scrutiny will take place on January 18th, and January 20th is the last day for withdrawal of candidatures.

Addressing concerns regarding the electoral process, Mr. Kumar refuted allegations of voter list manipulation, irregularities in EVMs, and claims of inflated voter turnout percentages, asserting the elections will be conducted fairly and transparently. He highlighted the diverse electoral outcomes in 21 states that held elections between 2004 and 2020.

Over 13,000 polling booths will be set up, all of which will be webcast. 70 booths will be managed exclusively by women polling personnel. The average number of voters per booth will be 1191. Voters aged 85 and above will be able to cast their votes from home.

Delhi currently has a total electorate of 15,524,858, comprising 8,349,645 male voters, 7,173,952 female voters, and 1,261 voters from the third gender.

The 2020 Assembly elections saw a landslide victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which secured 62 out of 70 seats. The BJP won 8 seats, while the Congress drew a blank. AAP secured approximately 54% of the vote share, BJP around 39%, and Congress less than 5%.
