**New Delhi, [Date]** – The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that the Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 5th, 2024, with results declared on February 8th. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar made the announcement at a press conference today.

A total of 1.55 crore voters, including 83.49 lakh men, 71.74 lakh women, and 1261 third-gender voters, are eligible to cast their ballots. This includes 2.08 lakh new voters. The elections will be contested across 70 seats, with 12 reserved constituencies and 58 general seats. Over 13,000 polling booths will be set up across the city.

The CEC highlighted the diverse population of Delhi, representing all states of India, and expressed confidence in high voter turnout. The election campaign is focusing on various key issues. AAP is highlighting its freebie schemes and women’s welfare initiatives. BJP is focusing on alleged corruption and criticizing AAP’s governance. Congress is attempting to leverage the legacy of Sheila Dikshit while criticizing both AAP and BJP.

The ECI’s announcement also includes the scheduling of elections in Milkipur on the same day, February 5th. The press conference provided details on voter demographics and election preparedness. Separately, Congress has opposed a BJP MP’s statement about ending free meals in Shirdi, calling it an insult to devotees.
