Mon Jan 06 21:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Bears Eye Cardinals’ Petzing for Head Coaching Position
**CHICAGO, IL – January 6, 2025** – The Chicago Bears are actively searching for a new head coach after firing Matt Eberflus in November, and have reportedly requested an interview with Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. This comes after a disappointing 2024 season that saw the Bears finish 5-12, last in the NFC North, and dead last in the league in yards per game despite drafting quarterback Caleb Williams first overall.
Petzing, whose Cardinals offense ranked 11th in yards this past season, is considered a strong candidate due to his run-first approach. He’s in his second season as an NFL offensive coordinator and has already built a positive reputation.
The Bears have also requested interviews with Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, according to reports.
Eberflus’s tenure with the Bears was marked by significant struggles, compiling a 14-32 record over two and a half seasons—one of the worst records in franchise history. Despite an offseason overhaul that included drafting Williams and acquiring Keenan Allen, the Bears failed to meet expectations. The team is now hoping to find a coach who can turn their fortunes around.
