Tue Jan 07 13:28:23 UTC 2025: ## Car Parts Showroom Awaits Payment for Panchayat Union Vehicles
**Tirunelveli, January 7, 2025** – A Palayamkottai-based car parts showroom is facing delays in receiving payments for work completed on official vehicles of three panchayat union chairpersons in Tirunelveli district. The showroom, which fitted spare parts worth ₹92,100 to a Mahindra Scorpio belonging to the Palayamkottai panchayat union chairman a year ago, has yet to receive payment despite the council’s approval in August 2024.
The showroom representative submitted a petition to Collector K.P. Karthikeyan on Monday, highlighting the prolonged delay. Similar work was carried out on vehicles for Nanguneri and Valliyoor panchayat union chairpersons, also facing payment delays. While other panchayat unions promptly settled their bills, the representative alleges that the delay in Palayamkottai, Nanguneri, and Valliyoor is due to bureaucratic hurdles. In one instance, the representative claims to have received threats from a senior official in Nanguneri, citing family connections to influential political figures.
A senior official from the Palayamkottai panchayat union stated that the bill is nearing approval, following recent consent from higher authorities. The showroom’s petition underscores concerns about timely payment for services rendered to local government bodies.
