Mon Jan 06 12:00:00 IST 2025: ## Law & Order Franchise Ratings Dip, But Still Dominates NBC
**New York, NY** – NBC’s Law & Order franchise, a cornerstone of the network’s Thursday night lineup for years, is seeing some changes and subsequent shifts in viewership. While the franchise continues to be a top performer for NBC, recent ratings data reveals a decline in audience numbers for several shows.
This fall, NBC altered its scheduling, replacing *Law & Order: Organized Crime* (OC) with *Found* on Thursday nights. This shift, along with the move of *Law & Order: Special Victims Unit* (SVU) to a Peacock streaming release in 2025, has prompted analysis of the remaining shows’ performance.
According to TVLine data, *SVU* currently averages 5.6 million viewers, ranking fourth among NBC’s scripted series behind the *One Chicago* franchise. However, this represents an 18% drop from Season 25. *Law & Order* itself saw an even steeper decline, down 26% from the spring season, averaging 4.83 million viewers. While *SVU* remains the second-highest-rated broadcast drama, the numbers suggest a noticeable impact from the scheduling changes.
Interestingly, *Found*, the replacement for OC, is also experiencing a ratings dip, down 13% from its previous Tuesday night slot and more than 20% compared to OC’s average. This suggests that the show’s performance may be affected more by the time slot than the overall franchise’s decline.
While the absence of a crossover between *SVU* and *OC* this fall is speculated to have impacted ratings, the overall decrease in viewership also mirrors declines experienced by other NBC shows, including *Chicago Fire* and *Chicago P.D.*, suggesting broader factors beyond the Law & Order franchise restructuring at play. The impact of *Organized Crime*’s Peacock-exclusive release remains uncertain due to differing rating methodologies between streaming and broadcast.
*Law & Order: Organized Crime* is set to return in January 2025 on Peacock. All three shows are currently available for streaming on the platform.
