Mon Jan 06 03:30:27 UTC 2025: ## New Orleans Truck Attack Suspect’s Foreign Travel Under Scrutiny
**New Orleans, LA** – The FBI is investigating overseas trips made by Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the US Army veteran who drove a truck into New Year’s Eve revelers in New Orleans, killing 14 and injuring 35. Jabbar, who had publicly professed support for ISIS in online videos, visited Egypt and Canada last summer, according to FBI Special Agent in Charge Lyonel Myrthil. Agents are currently working to determine if these trips, along with at least two prior visits to New Orleans in October and November, are connected to the attack.
During one of his visits to New Orleans, Jabbar reportedly cycled through the French Quarter, filming the area with Meta smart glasses. While he had the glasses on during the attack itself, they were not activated.
FBI Deputy Assistant Director Christopher Raia stated that all current evidence suggests Jabbar acted alone, although the investigation continues into potential contacts both domestically and internationally. “We have not seen any indications of an accomplice in the United States, but we are still looking into potential associates in the US and outside of our borders,” Raia said.
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are scheduled to visit New Orleans on Monday to offer condolences to the victims’ families. The investigation into Jabbar’s motives and potential accomplices remains ongoing.
