**RANIPET, January 6, 2025** – Two men were arrested on Sunday for illegally felling seven trees on the Government Higher Secondary School campus in Lalapet, near Ranipet. K. Suresh Kumar (39) and V. Pradeep (28) were apprehended by Ranipet SIPCOT police after residents witnessed them chopping down the trees and alerted authorities. A tractor used to transport the felled wood was also seized.
According to police, Pradeep and his driver, Kumar, were actively cutting the trees when confronted by local residents. The duo reportedly threatened the residents before police arrived. A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify and arrest those who allegedly commissioned the tree felling. Special teams have been formed for this purpose.
